Expectations

I woke up this morning unhindered by an alarm but accompanied nonetheless with an almost overwhelming feeling that I was behind.  My mind was flooded with a list of things I should be doing.  I recognized an immediate response of wanting to the pull the covers back over my head.  Instead, His voice assured me that these expectations were mine, not His.  He comforted me with the thought that He was for me and whether or not I completed any of those tasks, He was pleased to call me His own.

James 4:1-3 says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

Today, I choose not to quarrel with myself, but to instead rest in His perfect love for me and to be led by His Spirit.

Who am I? The Craugher Defined

Today is Thanksgiving, and I have much to be thankful for.  I have been on a journey that started 22 years ago.  Well truthfully it started the day I entered this big beautiful world.  I just didn't know it.  You are on a journey too and since you are reading this I am now a part of it.  I count it a huge privilege to be able to encourage you along your way. Why would you want to listen to me? SUPERPOWERS

Ever since I was a child, I have taken great pleasure in asking questions.  I believe it is my superpower.  You know, the thing I do like no one else; my sweet spot, the free money. Not general questions, like how things work and what something means, but deep questions, probing questions.  The kind that make people uncomfortable.   At first, I didn’t know this was the case.  I had the great gift of a grandmother who made me feel like my questions were normal and welcome.  She opened herself up like a book and poured out all the wisdom she accrued throughout her life and I soaked it up like a thirsty plant.  I wanted to know what made her tick.  Why she did the things she did.  I wanted to understand her motivations and because I listened to her heart I could deeply love her.  Even though it was no secret that she wasn’t a perfect person, I could overlook all the ugly because she had allowed me to see the beautiful.  Not...
